Tour Summary: Climbing through Chogoria Route Down Naro Moru Route is by far the most scenic and interesting route. It takes in both tropical forests and moor land.
Day 1: Chogoria Town
Transfer from Nairobi to Chogoria to our base hotel. Rest and acclimatise for the remainder of the day.
Day 2: Chogoria Park Gate
Transfer to park gate dinner and overnight at the gate.
Day 3: Lake Michaelson
We ascend to minto’s hut at 4300m that is situated on a plateau overlooking Lake Michaelson 300m below. There are spectacular views of th summits from here
Day 4: Austrian Hut
The trail continues to Austrian hut via tooth col which is situated between several rock towers. Overnight at Austrian hut.
Day 5: Point Lenana
An early morning start to attempt the summit of point Lenana, which is only about one hour from Austrian hut. We will descend to Chogoria park gate for the night.
Day 6: Exit Naro Moru
An early morning (after breakfast) 15km walk through the rain forests and bamboo zones to our vehicle to transfer to Nairobi.
Naro Moru is the most popular and fastest route to point Lenana although not the most scenic. Traverse though the notoriously treacherous vertical bog and into the wide Teleki Valley beneath the Tryndall, The Lewis Glacier.
Arrival day in Tanzania: Kilimanjaro to Moshi 45Km (27 miles) 50 Min drive. You will be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to Moshi where you will be taken directly to your hotel.
